Newscast Assignment

"Good afternoon, it’s Monday, October 21st at  4:00 o’clock and you’re
listening to 90.3 WKNJ-FM, Union, New Jersey, and I’m Colleen McGovern with the news.

In International News...
Money can’t always buy you peace and quiet. A Swedish newspaper reports a prominent businessman, Percy Nilsson confessed he'd drilled holes in the tires of an ice cream truck. The 71-year-old, Mr. Nilsson says he was infuriated by the teenage driver blowing the horn. The reason….. he says he wants to start a debate about ice cream truck noise. The driver admits to blowing the horn almost 100 times per hour.

In National News...
Marijuana may be now legal now in Washington State, but there are rules. Officials there released the new rules for selling pot last week. Last year, both Washington and Colorado legalized marijuana for recreational use. And as other states consider legalization, Washington's new regulations, if successful, could become a template.
Randy Simmons oversaw the drafting of the new rules. He described the process for qualifying for a license by saying “that there’ll be three different types of licenses: growers, processors and retailers.” Retailers will be limited the number of stores to 334 stores. All these stores will then end up in a lottery process.

In Sports News...
After years of jokes, Ultimate Frisbee players say they're finally getting some respect. For those who do not know the game it is played seven-on-seven and teams score by catching the disc in an end zone - kind of like football. And players make their own foul calls. Officials only step in when an argument can't be resolved.
This year, for the first time ever, the sport received provisional recognition from the International Olympic Committee, and Ryland Barton that this weekend its national championship will be broadcast live on ESPN3.

In Entertainment...
With just a few weeks to go before starting production of the very anticipated book gone film “Fifty Shades of Grey”, the leading man, Charlie Hunnam, quit, citing “scheduling conflicts.” But there is wide speculation that Hunnam left under criticism from the extremely opinionated fans who felt movie producers casted the wrong man.
Hollywood Reporter now with Charlie Hunnam dropping out it is crunch time to find the next male lead and start filming for the expected 2015 release date.

That’s it for your news on 90.3 WKNJ-FM, Union, New Jersey. I’m Colleen McGovern and thanks for listening. "
